Went into office today and didn’t know what to expect. We were supposed to be off today, but since Da Mao and Ken is not in the office yesterday and so nobody said we off today so we just went to the office. Checked mail and did our own stuff until about 9.40am when the guys went off to take bus to Taipei. After the guys left, me and jess was quite lost and didn’t know what to do. So we went to ask them what we can help, turn out that there is nothing much that we can help with except doing some research on OBUS.
Luckily after a while we could go to the CRC site to see how Niu Ge was conducting the program. He played a game which Allan had played with us during OL before so I and jess caught up with the flow quickly. We helped to give out the equipments to the kids and helped to check that they wore the harness correctly after Niu Ge taught them how to handle the equipments. We had to go back to office for lunch since there was no lunch at the CRC site for us as we went there last minute. After lunch, we saw which type of belaying method OBT used and soon after we helped to watch over the kids to practice belaying.
There was this kid, trying to by funny and keep imitating me talking. Probably to them when we speak there is this accent that we don’t realise because in the later part of the day he imitated jess as well. Saw how their giant swing worked, very different from the giant swing we have at ALC. Saw this high element ‘Two Ships’ that we do not have at the ALC, but didn’t get to see how it operates as both me and jess were at the climbing wall to supervise some of the kids climbing. We helped to keep the ropes after the program was cut.
When we went back to the office, suddenly one staff approached us to take photo as they were going to put it into their newsletter along with a short self introduction we had written after lunch I think? Ended up we told them that we’d take from our past photos to be put up instead. Ended work at 5.30pm but we stayed a while longer as we were sorting out our groceries list as well as think of what we want to cook so as to know the ingredients we will need.
We went on to have cup noodles for dinner as we both have the craving for cup noodles today and clyde uncle wasn’t here to nag at us for eating cup noodles. Hehe. Bought some tidbits to munch on as well. Oh yes, yyann! There is the type of cuttlefish that we both love here sold in small packets! I just realised that I forgot to bring the post it note back to the hostel that has our grocery list. Luckily we are not buying groceries tomorrow.
Hope that they will give us the code for the door so that we can go into the office on our own without having to press the bell and bother someone to open the door for us. No internet in the hostel and nothing to do causes me to sleep earlier as compared to being in Singapore. Also, the sun rises earlier and sets earlier here. I think my biological clock which is already koyak is getting more messed up here, but I’m a light sleeper here. Different environment or still new here? I hope I can stay as a light sleeper throughout the IIP and maintain it even till I’m back in Singapore. I don’t laze on the bed as long as I would in Singapore. Maybe cause got clyde uncle always come in and nag me and jess. But even without clyde to nag I will normally only snooze a maximum of 10-15 minutes here. Hopefully it stays this way.
i'm missing him, but there is nothing i can do. i want to tell him how i feel, but should i really? i'm afraid to lose the friendship that i have with him. or should i do it the way yyann did? tell him and after that tell him that i just want to get it off? will it work for me and him? sighs.Labels: iip, taiwan, thoughts
the scribbles and doodles,
a blog post i did yesterday night..but couldnt publish since there was no internet.
Taiwan has been good so far. I’ve only been here for the 4th day; the people here are very friendly. Sometime I also feel kind of awkward that they are so warm hearted towards us, but at the same time feel very heart-warming.
Typhoon is coming to Taiwan soon, drizzle has started today morning, and didn’t cease even after we ended work at around 5pm. Went to buy some groceries and attempted cooking our own dinner today. Ended with too much vegetable, too little rice and we forgot about meat totally. We had to open canned mackerel as meat. We also forgot to but a lot of stuff to bring out the flavour in the food, so some of the food was quite bland. It’s really so much cheaper to buy groceries and cook on our own then to go outside and eat dinner when we are not provided dinner here. Good experience though, and we can brush up on our culinary skills. LOL!
I must say I’m still adapting to speaking mandarin all the time as well as reading traditional Chinese characters.
I’m contemplating something in my mind for quite some time now. I don’t know if I should do it. And no it has nothing to do with my Taiwan mates.
Oh man. I miss my friends in Singapore!
Oh yes, me and jess getting our off day tomorrow(Saturday). but Bobby and Clyde will be at Hualien(if possible). I still have no idea how we are going to spend the day off.

Something from today's sermon, that I think that it is really true.
你要注意你的思想,因为它将成为你的行动。
你要注意你的行动,因为它将成为你的习惯。
你要注意你的习惯,因为它将成为你的个性。
你要注意你的个性,因为它将影响你的决定。
English translation, for my hunny bunny to understand. (:
We need to look out for what we think, for they will become our actions.
We need to look out for our actions, for they will become our habits.
We need to look out for our habits, for they will become our personality.
We need to look out for our personality, for they will affect our decision making.
I find this very true, and our thoughts can really cause a snowball effect in our own life. That's all I've to share for now.
The flight to Taiwan is less than 40 hours away.

WHOOSH.
I know when and what time i'm flying already. We'll be off on 19th oct. Time will be 1350hrs. will be at T1 cause we taking JetStar. So those who want to send me off you know what to do. we will need to be there by 1150hrs as need to be there 2 hours earlier.
Going to dairy farm later (its after 12) with daniel and clyde to climb. daniel having lesson at dairy farm so we meet to go together. the only people climbing will me clyde, jess, bobby and me. the OBT people. feel quite lonely cause the IIP students all at camp and only we can go to dairy farm to climb.
i'm getting mixed feelings now about the people who are going to send me off. i do know that some people will be there to send me off, but its because i know who are coming that gives me mixed feelings. sighs. i'm going to miss all my friends in singapore when i'm in taiwan.
OH YES. please check my blog for updates when i'm in TAIWAN. don't ask me to tweet anymore yyann. i'll go on FB and update my blog regularly when i'm there.

Well, well. i finally managed to get the camera i've been eyeing on. HEHEHE.

Canon A2100IS.
I guess I can say that I didn't regret not choosing a waterproof camera because of the many reviews that says that the image qualities for those cameras suck. I'm still in the midst of exploring and getting to know my camera inside out, but I'm lovin' it. HEHE.
And JESS ONG if you're reading this, we can so camwhore during our attachment already! HEHEHE. remember our MSN conversation okay! HEHE.

OKAY. I'M OFFICIALLY FLYING OFF NEXT WEDNESDAY NEXT MONDAY, 28TH SEPT.Don't bother asking me time, airline, etc. i'm glad that i have FEW things to buy for the trip.
Firstly, borrowed at 75 litre backpack from school, as well as a mammut head lamp. that's all for borrowing from school.
Things to buy:
1. my own day pack - decided that it will be the airwalk bag that jess has also
2. camera + waterproof casing
3. talcum powder
4. MORE undergarments
5. one piece swimsuit
and that's it! i'm so glad i dont need to buy a lot of stuff! cause i bet we'll end up buying stuffs in taiwan as well. i only pray pray pray that i will know the timing of the flight ASAP so others will stop bugging me about the flight time. i know a number of people are coming to send me off, and i'm also thinking of how to handle them. goodness gracious.
and yes, that's it for the end of this post. i'm lazy. i admit.

alrights. i shall do a proper post. else hunny bunny is complaining that i never update my blog. hehe.
received news from KM and Jess, visa has been approved, but not ready for collection, and we are being arranged to leave for Taiwan next week. please keep us in prayers (me, jess, clyde and bobby) cause H1N1 is quite serious is Taiwan now, 10 deaths and counting.
saw on tv about the Taiwanese doing river tracing, looks dam fun and cool. besides going against current, we'll be climbing up waterfalls as well. looking forward to that.
this week will try to meet up with some people. else wont be seeing them for quite some time.
i havent been really doing anything productive for the past week, basically just slacking at home and doing nothing since there was no news about visa and everything. oh ya. i went to cut hair. cut fringe only, but i think i look quite different. hahaha.
currently i'm having a headache now, as to what camera to buy. underwater cameras are alright, but then the image quality is compromised. if i'm to get a normal camera, then i'll need to get a waterproof casing. but i dont know which camera is good. any suggestions?
Maybelin's bday is round the corner, looking forward to it as a last chalet before i'm flying off to Taiwan. seems like there is a lot of things that i need to purchase before going off. will spend my free time this week to purchase them. (:

finally booked my appointment for my knee. i need a check up asap. my knees have been taking turns to hurt. 18 aug, i'll be going for my appointment with my doctor. hopefully everything turns out fine.
heard from tham that OBT will be rougher as compared to OBHK. because of river tracing. all i pray for is for my knee to be able to take it all. i dont wish to get admitted into a hospital while i'm there on attachment.
BM training is getting better. after learning how to use power stroke enabled me to glide more, and rest more whle moving faster in the water. but i guess i still need more practise on towing. sigh.

i still haven't started on my FYP poster. shucks. no motivation. really.
i'm looking towards end of week 15, but not UT 3. my IIP is around a month away, and 2 new additions have been added to OBT. clyde and bobby will be joining me and jess for OBT. i do feel relieved that i do not need to attain BM asap.
i dont know what to blog about already. dam tired from BM training. bye.

aites. i removed the previous post. to stop me from being reminded about it. what's past is past.
oh yes. i desperately need to go to a beach soon. sadly, the nearest date that i can go is next week mon-wed either one of these days.
i'm starting to worry. for my attachment. it is less than 2 months away, though tentatively. estimates around 50 days away. its neither very far away, nor very much approaching. my heart feels like it's floating in the ocean, moving up and down with the waves.
i don' kow to regret wearing contact lenses to school or to be happy about it. a lot of friends who never seen me in contacts before keep asking me to stop wearing specs. maybe i will, but i guess it will be after i get my oakleys. else i'll be suffering the sun rays into my eyes. but i guess i'm getting my oakleys soon. (:(:

its been some time since i last updated. nights out with daniel, clyde, hui xian and yyann will be updated with photos after i get them from yyann and clyde.
XSY ended for me on sunday night last week. what i did this year was a rather different experience as compared to the past 2 years i've been in logistics. maybe i'm not too used to having so many people in logistics. it seems like there isnt much for me to do with so many people around. i had something to pray to God for after this XSY. to pray for a big heart like God, to accept the shortcomings of others. i will not elaborate on it. (:
been rushing FYP for the past week, left 1 month plus to FYP report submission. and our evaluation is not done yet. needless to say our prototype. sigh.
received news from my faci, saying earliest that i will leave singapore would be 7th sept for my IIP attachment at Outward Bound Taiwan. hopefully all goes well, leave early, come back early, then i'll have more time to finish my PP.
i wont be updating my blog in a while (i think), until i get the photos for night out from yyann or clyde. will be chionging my FYP for now and taking time out to meet people before i leave singapore. (:
guess i will only be heading down the beach after the schools end their holidays. RP's the only school not having holiday now if i'm not wrong. i need my time alone (or with a close friend).

made a trip to punggol jetty for nothing on saturday. wasted trip. ):
else could have joined avontuur race with nisa. after knowing that miscommunication occured, alex went home to get his laptop while me and nisa went to sengkang compass point to stroll around seeing what we could have for breakfast. went outside compass point to lepak as there was like nowhere for us to sit inside. took a few photos on sat as i was too bored. hehe.

nice clouds! at punggol while waiting for the bus.
oh yah. deja vu happened. all 3 of us saw a bus 82 and we boarded the bus. (we were supposed to take bus 82 to punggol jetty from punggol) after we boarded the bus, we realised that the bus went to punggol interchange, where we walked out from to the bus stop, as the bus interchange did not have the bus service number 82. so we thought that the bus uncle just needed to drop people off at the interchange.
then, the uncle call us to alight form the bus, saying the bus service stopped there. then the 3 of us all look at each other, stunned. alex then told the uncle we going to punggol jetty. then uncle told us, his bus is 62 not 82. when we alight, we saw that indeed the side of the bus wrote 62, and the back of the bus also 62. but when we flag the bus, in front was 82! and the bus stop, supposed to have only bus 82 stopping there! like scary shit la.
the following pictures are taken outside compass point. i was too bored. hehe.

green grass~ felt like lying down there and looking up the sky. how nice would that be.

fluffy clouds. (:
edit: 28/05/09 @ 0:03am
- photo removed as requested by the person in the photo. respecting her privacy.
nisa~ hahaha.
looks like an advertisement for seasons?

muddy sandals. we tried to trek into matilda's house but only to find the walk there water logged.
my milo! hehe.

last photo taken before alex arrived. made our way to breakfast then.

dinner with bernard. hehe. great time to catch up with him, about his IIP and other stuffs. even made my way to church with him on 168. got to know him better too. (:
OH OH. update here for everyone to know. i might be leaving for taiwan in sept instead of oct dur to OBT's request. yup. i will update more on it when i have more info. my blog will be my channel of keeping updated with my friends. so when i'm at iip, check my blog more frequently!

it's still good learning experience in time to come. will have jess accompanying me there, but we might not go to the same camps together, afterall we aint experts. seems like i'm always with her huh? ever since she stepped into Synergy MC and became pres, we're like getting together so much. but i aint complaining! better than going with someone i aint familiar with. heh.
i finally joined a FYP team. strong team i'd say. clyde, nisa, khai, myself and hilmi. i'm glad we reached a mutual understanding of what we're gonna do for our FYP quickly. =))
and and. since i'm going to OBT in sem 2, i can go for MAYDAY's concert in AUG! =)))))))))))
and and. i dont need to give my ang bao $$ to my mama like last time anymore, since i dont need to contribute to my insurance already. the money can be withdrawn liao. heh.

HOLIDAYS ma dear. 10 weeks! finally more time where i can work with fellow cheerios! i'm so going to clear my A&E asap, and earn more $$. heh. time to get all that i need.
let me see..before going taiwan, some neccessities i would need there would be..
- booties
- lifesaving 1,2,3 certified
- kayaking 1 star certified
- shades (oakley of course)
- a proper backpack
- headlamp/new torchlight
- zip-off pants
- mosquito coil holder
currently thats all i can think of. but i'll tell you, there's definitely more than that. hah. some stuffs i might just get them in taiwan. =))
tiredness is kicking in, and i need to be in school by 8.15 am tomorrow. kayaking expedition tmr. single kayak. heard that we're going to use priyon. it never fails to encourage me to wake up early on monday with water based lesson. too fun to miss. shall stop here then, ciaoz.
